A running change was made to the 45RFE/545RFE transmission pump and pump cover during the 2007 model year. The previous pump housing featured a machined front hub, with the torque converter seal pressed into a bore in the hub. The pump cover was made of aluminum and featured a large ID with a square-section inner seal, and was retained by two snap rings (at the ID and OD).
The new pump design has no front hub. The torque converter seal is pressed into a steel pump cover, and the cover is retained by an outer snap ring only. No inner snap ring is used
NOTE:
You can retrofit 1999-2006 model years by using the late style pump (45RFE.PUM03) and late style cover (45RFE.COV02).
